Hurricane S-i-m-u-l-a-t-o-r

Ok so this last week we spent 6 fun filled days in California! Corbin had some schooling he had to attend in Riverside for 4 days. The kids and I decided we would go with him for a little vaca! And when he was done with his training we would take the kids to Disneyland! But that wasn't going to be for 5 days from the day we got to California! SO I was trying to keep my Mother of the Year award and decided to entertain the kids by myself in Riverside California! Have you ever been to Riverside? Not a resort destination to say the least. We had this really nice Hotel that Corbs company got for us, but it was right smack downtown ghettoville! I mean like bars on the windows, across the street from the liquor store, people sitting on their porches drinking their 40's(beer if you don't know what a 40's are)! So I got my trusty little navigation friend Gertrude out and we decided to go to Ontario to a Shopping Mall to see if we could see a movie or something! It was about 20 Min away! Now Gertrude and I have a love/hate relationship! Sometimes I want to totally kick her trash and other times I want to give her a big ol wet kiss! I stepped way out of my bounds driving on the California Freeways. They are the devil! But by the end I was whipping in and out of cars going 101 mph with my head tipped, radio blaring and my right hand on the passenger seat! (not really I never turned ON the radio, I was always at 10 & 2, and I wouldn't even let the kids whisper because I was afraid I would miss what Gertrude had to say!) Anyways I'm getting a little off subject. I took the kids to the mall and I had been a little testy the first morning because I was just a tad bit scared to be in Riverside after waking up and seeing where we were. So when we got to the mall I was willing to Pay a 100 bones just to have some fun! First thing we came to was this Hurricane Simulator in the Food Court of all places(Yes it was lunch time, 12:17 to be exact)! So being the Cool Mom that I am I asked the kids if anyone wanted to do this with me! Hunter looked at me like I had eyeballs growing out my nose and Kenlee was like SURE! So we put in the 2 dollars and this thing started up and I jumped in thinking Kenlee was going to come with me and all of a sudden I was in this thing all by myself and both the kids slammed the door and was on the outside looking at me! This thing was like a tube with clear glass and at the top it had a vent of air blowing at you! OH MY was I sight for sore eyes! This thing started up and I had forgot that I had a dress on until I got in and it started blowing up. I was trying to hold it down with no luck I finally tucked it between my legs. I had my hair put up in a bun with bobby pins and they started shooting out pinging off the clear glass. My hair was flying all over the place. I couldn't see anything. All I could see is all of a sudden their was a bunch of people standing all around this tube thing checking me out! I'm not sure why I didn't just get out and let it eat the rest of my money but nooo I couldn't waste 2 dollars! I tried to put a smile on my face but seriously I wanted to crawl into a big ol gopher hole! When it started to slow down I looked at my kids and the look on their faces was priceless! I tried to get out acting like I was a totally cool mom and that I really loved the Twister but inside I was dying! I see people trying to not bust up into hysterics. I hurried and gathered up the kids and took off to find the restroom. Hunter said "Well that was humiliating" and Kenlee said " I wanted to tell those people to sho sho" as she was waving her hand! I went into the bathroom stall and I want to cry but instead I started laughing and I couldn't stop! It was hilarious! This old fat Mother of the Year with her dress blowing up kicking it in the Hurricane Simulator! I don't know if it gets much better than that! I have lost my touch my friends I believe I'm no longer the awesome young women I use to be! Boy does life catch up fast! So a word of advice never get in a Hurricane Simulator with a dress on! More California fun coming soon!

Summer Fun

Warning: I have horrible grammar and English skills so if your going to read this please do not correct me in your head! Thank you! Someday I hope to go back to kindergarten and get a full education!

This Summer I have been beating myself up that I didn't save money during the year to do some fancy smancy vacation with my family! I see people's vaca pictures and my eyes well up with tears! Ok maybe not that dramatic but you get the picture! So instead I decided i would try to come up with "old skool" summer fun! When summer begins I start to think of the things I use to do or want to do when I was young. Sometimes I feel that my kids get so wrapped up into video games, TV, material "things", that they are not experiencing the simple things in life. Recently I noticed an ad on Craigslist that was advertising picking cherries for $1 a pound. I instantly thought what a good way for my kids to make some summer money. Hunter took to that like duck takes to water. He was pumped. We went out 2 different times and picked a total of 40 lbs of cherries and he sold every bit of them minus the 10 lbs we ate during the process. He sold them for $2 a lb! After I paid for the gas and $30 dollar dinner, we spent way more than we made but it was worth the learning experience for the runts.

This last weekend we went to see Corbin's sister Callie,(bless her heart she is 9 and 1/2 months pregnant! She was probably ready to see us leave! Ok ok dramatics she is only like 7 months, but I'm sure she feels like she is that far I know I did when I got to that point) her husband Brandon and their little girl Reagan in Moroni and while we were there we went to the Pageant at the Manti temple. If you want to live the simple life go visit Sanpete County(hillibilly hell as my BOL calls it). It is so simple and nostalgic. It is really quite peaceful. It really brings you back to the basics of life. I wanted to visit more of the OLD sites but time would not allow. I can't wait to go back and spend some more time exploring more of the vintage towns and sites. The kids had fun playing at the park, playing with Reagan and watching the Pageant. It was a much needed restful get away. Any old who that is what we have so far! We have been doing alot of playing, relaxing, learning and fighting( don't even tell me you don't become a WWE wrestling ref during the summer)! But all in all we have been together so this summer should be one to remember ( The summer that mom was a big dud and made us do all those stupid things to teach us lessons)!

Reagan and her camera face! We took quite a few pics and everyone was like this! Funny girl!

Corb and his wittle sistor! She is his favorite person other than me of course!

Hiding scissors doesn't work!

A couple weeks ago I was spending a little ME time on the computer thinking that McKenlee was just hanging out watching a movie while Corb and Hunter were working on a service project. We have a little Hair cutting issue in our home with McKenlee. I have hid all the scissor I can find on the very top shelf of one of our Kitchen Cabinets and if the kids need them, they have to ask for them and then they go right back up. We purchased some Otter Pops and instead of them asking me 20 times a day for the scissors. I left the most dullest pair of children scissor I could find out for them to use! (I mean these things I couldn't even cut paper with they were so "child proof"!) And here is the results of that little decision I decided would be okay for a couple of days until the otter pops were gone!

Like the mullet! I tried to just comb it and put cute flowers in it, but it wasn't going to work! So the next day I took her to the Hair Salon kicking and screaming because Corbin told her we were going to have to cut her hair like a boy! The whole time Emily our friend/hair stylist was cutting it Kenlee just sat there with a pout on her face. When Emily was finished she asked Kenleee if she liked it and Kenlee simply said "NO". At first I cried! I was trying to be strong so she knew I meant business so I was hiding the tears! To be quite honest all I could think was the old movie Parent Trap.

The next couple of days when she was running in and out of the house I would ask myself "who was that?" But about the 3rd & 4th day I began to love it! I finally learned how to style it and bought some new cute headbands and flowers. Now everywhere we go people tell her how cute it is and she eats it up. In the beginning I would tell the story to everyone who would comment now I just say "THANKS" and take the credit. McKenlee is like a mini Corbin. She is so sweet, caring and loves to have fun. She makes our life very eventful. Her new hairstyle really fits her life loving attitude.
